The soccer match between VDT and Eskom was highly anticipated since the beginning of the year and the atmosphere was tense as both teams wanted to end the season on a high note. Both teams had ample support and everybody was looking forward to the match. The match was very tight and Eskom only managed to clinch the game in the dying minutes. Regardless of the loss, it was a very enjoyable game of football where new friendships were made. This game will definitely become a regular fixture between the two teams.

Human Rights: Upholding the right to education

The right to education is outlined in section 29 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996 (hereinafter “the Constitution”). This section guarantees that everyone has the right to basic education and the right to further education, which the state, through reasonable measures, must make progressively available and accessible. In South Africa the right to basic education can be described as a fundamental socio-economic right, that is, an entitlement to conditions and resources necessary for the material well-being of people.
