Karien Coetzee

Karien studied at the NWU-Potchefstroom and completed her LL.B degree in 2008.

She joined VDT Attorneys in 2009 during which year she attended Law School. She was subsequently admitted as an Attorney and Conveyancer of the High Court of South Africa in 2010 and as a Notary Public in 2013.
Karien is a Director in the firm’s Property Law Division. She has extensive experience of more than 12 years in all types of conveyancing matters, ranging from specialised commercial matters such as township establishment, opening of sectional title schemes, the registration of servitudes and further also including transfers in the fields of insolvency, sheriff and estate transfers.

She specialises in the construction and preparation of conveyancing transactions from inception of the development, including the sub-division of properties, consolidations, removal of restrictive conditions, creation of personal and praedial servitudes as well opening of sectional title schemes.
Her field of expertise further extends to various other notarial work, inclusive of registration of notarial tie agreements, notarial long term lease agreements as well as drafting of servitude agreements between owners and developers.
She has advised various clients in commercial property related matters in order to find simple, effective and executable solutions.

She has acted for various large companies, including banks, developers, city councils and estate agents and plays a key role in the establishment of townships and registration of large sectional title developments.
